Last Sunday (23rd September) Sandy Bay U13 Boys had a few friendly games at Happy Valley with our chums from Valley Fort. This was the first time this season that the boys played in full matches but was also an opportunity to see how they handled themselves as a team. And for most it was the first time they played in a match on a full-sized rugby pitch.
Not only did they beat Valley in each game (always a pleasure), but they handled themselves exceedingly well, and had no trouble with the new larger pitch playing area. Good positioning, ball passing and defensive action all round.
Last Sunday was also the occasion to welcome players from the Macau Bats who will be playing with us this season. They were given their club playing shirt and warmly welcomed into the club family. And part of our success against Valley was due to some fine playing by these Sandy Bay Bats.
