Born in 1971, Aberdeen Sports Ground had no chance when Typhoon Mangkhut, the most powerful storm on earth in 2018 and labelled as the fiercest to hit Hong Kong ever, made landfall on 16th September.

The old girl was already under repair for a missing piece of roof from a 2017 typhoon when Mangkhut cracked one or two of the main pillars supporting the roof.

The HKRU has made hasty alternative plans and our inaugural Club Day shall move to Kings Park with a similar schedule and theme.
