The Tiger rug rests on the Bays Floor

Herbert Smith Freehills HKU Sandy Bay Vikings VS USRC Tigers 2

With the Vikings training hard after a tough loss to the Dragons the previous week, coaches Thierry and Ian were hard at work preparing the Vikings for a home field game against the Borrelli Walsh USRC Tigers 2.

With the majority of the team remaining the same, aside from starting Hugo Denness at hooker, James Rees sliding into the engine room and Karl Redmond sitting on the wing with an absent Arthur Wagner. Callum Tam and Sean Casey, take their start from the bench, taking a rest from the previous weeks tough game, along with debutants Momo Wong and Edward Lee.

The vikings start off well with a try from Karl Redmond within the first 10 seconds of the game, as Cole Mosychuk pucks the kick from the Tigers grasps, the try too near to the touch line for Jonathan Poon. Tries also come in from Jules Galley, Jacob Rumball and Talaisa Toma (as he previously scored on the wrong line). Jonathan Poon converts two out of the three tries. Tigers score two tries before the half with one converted and one penalty, bringing the score 24-15 to the Bay Side. The half was ended with trouble as two players from the vikings side receive yellow cards; Tomak Tsang and James Rees.

The second half begins with a penalty from Ed Nethersole as he comes off the bench, followed by three converted tries from Callum Tam, Felix Bravis and two game Jeffery Chin. All three tries were tries were converted by Ed Nethersole. Tigers finish off the half with two converted tries, however it was too late for them as the Vikings sealed their fate. The game ended with a 48-29 score line for the mighty Vikings.

The vikings coaching staff will look to build up the foundations and team depth with this weeks gaols in mind, with fitness and defensive structure at the forefront. The vikings team celebrated the well deserved win at Rula with the season opener to fuel the night.

Coyote's man of the match: Jules Galley

The vikings look forward towards round three of the Saxo Capital Markets Men’s Premiership A against a strong Societe Generale Valley Knights side at Happy Valley with the kick off at 3:00pm. Come down and support the vikings!
