As Marauders marched off the pitch preparing to cheer on their Raider compatriots, they gathered pitchside one last time this season. As they stood there, smiling and cheering around HKRU Director of Finance and Aberdeen RFC legend Paddy Donovan, they were about to receive the CL1B winner’s trophy....
Rewind to 75 minutes earlier....
Marauders are taking the pitch for the final time this season. After a slow start that saw the boys propping up the table with 9 points after 7 matches, they ripped off 4 straight bonus point wins to finish 7th, missing out on the A league through a tiebreaker.
Through the first 4 matches of the split season, Marauders continued their strong form, rolling through 4 more bonus point wins and a point differential of +150. The league was wrapped up with a game to play, clearly due to the exotic tactics used by first year head coach, John Byrnes.
The Marauders are playing for pride, for 9 straight wins and a B league grand slam. Will you be there to help cheer them on to glory, to help them achieve this? Will you be there to know, when they’re heading over to celebrate with Paddy Donovan, whether they’ve won this game? You’ll need to come up to Shek Kip Mei at 1:30PM to cheer us on and find out.
