HKU Sandy Bay Marauders picked up all the points this weekend as the Hong Kong Police were sadly unable to field a team. Even after waiting until late in the week the Police team couldn't muster the required numbers and unfortunately forfeited to a Marauders team that were chomping at the bit for the game.
Marauders and Police games have had a history of being a tight and sometimes fiery event, but with the Police force all being on roster they were unable to rally the troops for the game.
Game day captain Matt Whitmell was pleased with the 40-0 score and bonus points but was quoted as saying he would rather have taken that on the field than through a forfeit.
Marauders assistant coach Andrew 'Stids' Stidworthy felt the team were well prepared for the encounter and instead now have to focus on training this week and the upcoming game next week against Kowloon. Stids provided further details on the Marauders preparation but this reporter couldn't understand anything outside of "okes, bro, shift the ball"..........
We look forward to the opportunity of playing the Police later in the season and earning our points.
