With several Premiership players joining the Tai Po squad, Storm did exceptionally well to keep the opposition at bay for the majority of the game. Storm held their ground well and played some impressive defense, thanks to quick back row. Outstanding tackles by newcomers Jemima Joy Gbadago, Rachel Briggs and Ishka Hildebrandt kept Storm in the game and it looked like a win was clearly within grasp.
Working on skills following the previous week's game against Valley Reds, the forward pack demonstrated vast improvement in the scrum and line outs. Defensive efforts from the scrum and quick reaction by Harriet Jamieson at no.10, frustrated Tai Po into handling errors.
Storm made impressive ground towards the end of the first half and into the second, with chances by Lauren Petersen, Laura Horsfall, and Emma Chung, but could not convert these individual efforts into the points needed for the win.
The game ended with a frustratingly close result, following late breakaways for Tai Po Dragons, which sealed their victory in the final 10 minutes. Despite the score at the final whistle, this game could have gone either way and Storm will have plenty to take away from this match so early in the season.
