New Kit by Samurai to Start the Season

New kit for a great new season

We look forward to running out wearing Samurai in the new season

HKU Sandy Bay RFC has selected Samurai Sportswear for all its official match day
training, leisurewear kit in a three-year deal. Samurai took over from current kit
supplier Kukri from 1st February 2020.

This partnership will see all HKU Sandy Bay RFC players, coaches and other club
staff wearing kit designed and manufactured exclusively for the club by Samurai
going forward.

Speaking at the announcement of the deal, Michael Lacy Club of HKU Sandy Bay
RFC, said:

“HKU Sandy Bay RFC is excited to join the Samurai family for all our kit requirements.
Sandy Bay is one of Hong Kong’s largest and successful rugby clubs, with 850
juniors and 220 senior players, and high expectations from our kit partners.
Samurai is the brand that meets our high design quality, range and delivery
expectations. We look forward to running out wearing Samurai in the new season”.
To mark the start of the partnership, Samurai’s Global Sales Director, Mike Pells
joined Sandy Bay Club Chairman, Michael Lacy at his office in Wan Chai, Hong Kong
to discuss the process going forward. Attendees included committee member
Richard Cooke and Club Administrator, Eleanor Cherry.

About HKU Sandy Bay RFC
Hong Kong University Sandy Bay RFC is an inclusive community rugby club with a
goal of participating in all levels of the HKRU and the Saxo Capital Markets Hong
Kong Rugby Premiership competition. In May 2018, HKU Sandy Bay RFC, a mini and
youth rugby club up to that point, merged with HKCC Rugby to form a new through
club from Minis to Seniors. Thus, a new HKU Sandy Bay RFC was born. The club is
committed to the promotion of the game and aims to provide all players, whether
Under 5’s right through to the Senior team, with the necessary skills and
environment to excel at the sport. The current head coach is South African born, former head coach of All-Ireland League side Buccaneers, Brett Wilkinson. The club is
celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and continues to be one of the most
successful rugby clubs in Hong Kong.
