It gives me great pleasure to announce that our new Head Coach is Will Webster. Following a highly competitive selection process, Will shone through as the right person to take our Premiership side forward and build on the solid foundations that have been laid over the past three seasons. Will has been an assistant coach since joining the club in the summer of 2019 and therefore already has a comprehensive knowledge of the Prems squad as well as the elite rugby landscape across Hong Kong.
Sport was always a central theme in Will’s life, whether growing up in Kenya or later during his boarding school years in the UK. A promising rugby career, cut short through injury, led Will down the coaching route at a relatively early age which he combined with his career as a teacher. Moving back to Kenya saw Will progress to eventually become involved with the Kenyan national 7s team as both Assistant Coach and Interim Head Coach in the lead-up to the 2018 World Cup. As more demands were placed on Will’s time, he chose rugby over teaching when he moved to Hong Kong to primarily work as a coach across the national elite men’s and women’s 7s programmes whilst also coaching at Sandy Bay.
We cannot wait to see the Prems back in action under Will’s helm and look forward to challenging again for top honours. Up the Bay!
