Marauders Bounced Back and Demolished League Leader Valley by S. Chan
After suffering a demoralizing defeat at the hands of the well drilled police team from last week, we were left with a sour taste in our mouth knowing full well that we were much better than what the scoreline reflected.
Last Saturday we were tasked with yet another tough challenge against our fierce rival and current league leader Valley. This was a game which really tested our character and the perfect opportunity to show our mettle. Right from the start, in defense we were ferocious and yet very disciplined. Against their big forwards, our defense didn’t take a step back and against their speedy backs, we kept them at bay most of the match. This easily was the best defense we played all season. We should all be proud of that.
In attack, we were relentless in pace and wonderfully clinical, as a result we scored five tries in total! Special mention must go to our Aussie finest Tony Scott, whose solo dizzling run from the fullback position was a try of the highest quality. Even Jonah Lomu would be jealous of his try….
All in all, it was a great team effort. Captain Matt Whitmell lead from the front and everyone from 1-22 played their hearts out. We shall embrace this victory and use this game as the turning point of the season and strive for performance like this week in and week out.
