Wilfred “Chief” Lau returns as Chairman for the Seniors Rugby Section.

Big day today as the Men's Premiership returns to the pitch for their first game back, ready to take on HK Scottish RFC at King's Park with a 6pm kickoff!

We, as a club, have been rebuilding all summer.

For those of you know, Chief has return as the Seniors Chairman this year, continue to bring you all the positive energy and, of course, beers! Here's what he has to say for this season!

"Dear members and supporters of the club,

It is with extreme honour that I am entrusted to lead the Seniors Rugby Section for another term.

We managed to grind through the difficult times together without too many casualties and I am very optimistic about our future. “Getting the basics right” was my focus during the Summer rebuilding phase. We implemented a lot of positive changes and the result is starting to show. I am sure you can sense the aura around the section is quite different than the past.

Some familiar faces are back with the family to help strengthen our core. The dynamic duo of Paddy Donovan and Gareth Page from the golden days are back. Our performance sides are stronger than ever with Marno at the helm along with his experienced coaching staffs. Andrew “Stids” Stidworthy is back to cry havoc with the mighty Marauders. The Judge has a new sidekick in Marlize Van der Merwe (ex-Spingbok) to help prepare our ladies on their quest for Premiership promotion. In the background, Meaghan (admin), Mandy (marketing) and the Seniors Committee have been working tirelessly to make sure we are prepared for the start of the new season. I am very lucky to be supported by such quality people.

You would also notice the change in player numbers during this pre-season. From Performance to Social, men and women, we put a lot of effort on recruitment this Summer and it had paid off. I want to take this opportunity to welcome all the new players and the return of our veterans. YOU are the heart and soul of this Club. Without your blood, sweat and tears, this Club would not exist. Welcome to the Bay!

Finally, I want thank our sponsors for their financial support. Also, for all the veteran pro-players for their financial sacrifices to ensure the Club stays sustainable in a long run.

With all that said… from this point on, it is up to YOU to make sure we will have a successful season ahead. So, stay focus, have fun and play hard. Leave nothing on the pitch, this is what rugby is all about. It is time to kick some a*s.

To our loyal supporters, please come and enjoy the spectacle perform by our men and women. I guarantee they will not disappoint.

I’ll see you at pitch side with a cold Blue Girl in hand.

Up the Bay!"
