Sandy Bay Rookie Scoops Major Award

She is the kind of leader we need more of in girls rugby.
- Laurel Dillon | Girl's Section Chair

At the HKRU Awards Dinner, Sandy Bay's Tanya Dhar scooped up the Girl's Youth Coach of the Year Award for her work with the club's U14 girls team.

Laurel Dillon, Sandy Bay Girls Section Chair, was full of praise for this amazing acheivement. "Given that Tanya was in her first year of coaching, as head coach and had some dads with serious rugby experience beside her, not easy for an 18year old woman to handle - and handled that with aplomb. The U14 girls cleaned up. That her protégés turned up at the New Year's Day Tournament with giant “go Tanya”! sign is a testament to her leadership and rapport with players. She is the kind of leader we need more of in girls rugby."

Tanya shared her gratitude for the award, "It’s an honour to recognised by the HKRU and I am extremely thankful for the incredible support of the parents and the trust of the players. I feel privileged to be able to give back just a little bit to a club that has and continues to give me so much".
