Hard to believe that the season is already over! And what a season!
Under the fabulous leadership of Bill Brant who has done brilliant work with the boys, concentrating on their weaknesses, building on their strengths, and especially helping them improve themselves through auto-analysis (what they did well, where they should improve). All in a positive and fun atmosphere.
Seeing them laugh their heads off during training (rolling out of a ruck or joking at missed passes) has been a joy. Even more impressive has been their serious attitude and team cohesion during games. Especially coming together faced with a tough opposition or in a losing situation to come through with a win.
And the season has been impressive for both teams:
And lastly this week-end, finalists in the Sevens tournament, only losing in a hard-fought match against our friends from Valley Fort – the only real opposition the boys have faced this season.
A special thanks to our players from the Macau Bats who made the regular effort to come and play with us. We would probably not have had such a successful season without Archie, Alex, Aidan and of course Tiago.
A mention should also go to Valley with whom we have had a very good rapport and some good shared training sessions. This can be seen in the group photo above taken after the Sevens final. The real spirit of rugby.
And lastly a very tearful farewell to some of our dearest and long-standing players who won’t be with us at the start of next season. Barney and Sam, you have been with us from the beginning, and Matthew M not sure how we’ll do without you powering through the opposition. You’ll be sorely missed boys, but don’t forget the Overseas Player membership.
