You either win or your learn.
Won 2 lost 1.
Game 1.
We lost our first up game to DB Barbarians 2-1. We learnt that our initial warmups need to have higher intensity to wake our players up (we did the first tournament and came out firing) so that they are ready to play at whistle time. Warmup must include rucking and tackling.
DB score two tries from their solid and fast left winger. Grace scores our try.
Game 2
During the down time between games our coaches worked on what we needed to do better and this is reflected in the 8-1 score line to Valley Fort.
Player of the match Ella score 4 try’s (the first going against the grain). Grace contributed 3 try’s and Izzy got a try from good supporting and a good offload.
Against the weaker Valley Fort side we managed to experiment with some positions.
Game 3
We won 4-2 against the football club. Ella, Grace, Chloe (from chasing a restart and putting pressure on the opponents). Alyssa also crossed the line. Player of the match Zanzi survived having a tooth come out and a nasty hair pull to play some hard yards at centre.
Work ons.
The more people consistently turn up to practise the easier it is to substitute players into various positions so everyone will get more game time.
Always rucking - the lowest person wins!
Back line spread in attack and defence.
Overall once the girls are awake they are capable of winning the KLC final tournament and Cup - which will come down playing under pressure.
Good luck for those touring Singapore and if I don’t see you before Merry Christmas.
