The Sandy Bay U9/U10 girls enjoyed their second outing in five months to Discovery Bay North Plaza. Given the interruptions suffered by all of the rugby community in Hong Kong in the intervening period, the girls were thankful to their hosts for arranging this bilateral tournament.
The tournament started brightly for Sandy Bay, with all the girls quickly finding their feet and getting back into 'match playing mode' in a fast-paced, 7-a-side format. Sandy Bay 'Whites' won their first game, and Sandy Bay 'Blues" lost, despite at one point being in the lead in their game. For their second games, both the "Whites" and "Blues" were comfortable winners.
The day ended with a memorable 10-a-side game against their DB Pirate counterparts. After significant shouting from the sidelines, and many-a-reset scrum, Sandy Bay U9/U10 girls eventually ran out winners by two tries to one. Notable mentions must go to Olivia and Zoe who showed great agility and direct running, respectively, with Olivia scoring both the team's excellent tries.
Finally, a shout out to Coach Silvan for organizing the fun day out for the girls, and for keeping the team's spirits high throughout the morning.
