Awesome Line-out Success

U14 Boys a posted a very strong win against the USRC Tigers team 2 at Kings Park today. The boys dominated from the start with aggression and passion from both the forwards and backs. Throughout the game the line out was massively successful with the team not losing a single line out (for or against) in the first half of the match with great lifting and catching from the forwards.

Captain Sharif opened the score with a great carry from 15 meters out. He spotted the gaps in the Tigers defences and smashed through to score the try within the first 5 minutes of the game. This was followed up with a characteristic winger try from Choi following some good lead up play from the centre of the pitch and pass from Darracott that released our speed demon.

Try 3 was a fantastic score from fly half Rowe, after a strong ruck and recycle, Rowe carried the ball, saw a gap and did his classic step inside and ran through to score under the posts. Our 4th try was similar with a recycled ball ending up in the hands of the Sandy Bay Center Jambert who dipped his shoulder and ran through the Tigers defence.

At Half time the score was 24-0 to Sandy Bay and the boys were ready to keep going.

The second half brought more tries from the team, however Tigers did fight back and showed strength in the rucks and started to dominate in the scrums as the game went on for longer - perhaps our boys were getting tired... But our defence held and we kept our shape.

Three more tries in the second half were scored by Choi, Sharif, and Rowe all from strong team plays. However the try of the half has to goto scrum half De Saint Vaulry. After a fantastic carry from Sharif bringing the ball to within three meters of the try line under the posts the ruck was formed and Sandy Bay ensured the ball was safe. Spotting a gap and an opportunity, scrum half De Saint Vaulry picked up the ball and drove through the Tigers forward defence to bundle the ball over the line - great work!

All in all a day of strength from the boys, great team work and huge success in the line outs.

Final Score 48-0 to Sandy Bay Well Done!!!
