We were supposed to play TSWP/TWR next but they were a no-show so we played VF. The girls had defiantly been listening to the coaches’ pep talk after the first match and they showed no mercy and proved they are the team other teams should fear.
If any were in doubt before the match it was confirmed during the match that rugby truly is a team sport. All worked hard and our defense didn’t give VF’s “star player” any chance to shine and she didn’t make a single run. She got so frustrated that she kicked the ball away after one of our tries and asked for her coach to sub her. Our attacking line most likely had a sugar rush because they just kept running and pushing forward.
Zoe Schorr made 3 tries and a conversion. Thiyaa Subramanian and Cassandra Skoett both made 1 try and Anna added another 3 conversions. Final score 33-0 and 55-5 for the day.
Usually, only players that makes tries and conversions are mentioned by name but I want to reassure all players that their performances are duly noted by all watching and you can be very proud. We also saw some of the newer players to the sport making good tackles and nice passes. It is obvious that the training sessions are paying off and keep up the good work.
It was not only good team work on the pitch but also outside the pitch. Thanks to all the parents helping out keeping the club shop open, keeping scores, having the kicking tee ready when needed, buying sweets to keep the players energy levels high and keeping the refs on their toes when they were falling asleep. Your help is really appreciated.
I already look forward to the match on Sunday.
