5 of our boys have been selected to represent HK in the forthcoming Asia World Rugby Championship to be held in KL in December.
Congratulations to Oscar, Matisse, Kyran, Dom & Max. We’re sure you will do HK & Sandy Bay proud.
The game on Sunday saw a very diminished squad face a very strong Valley Fort team.
With 9 players injured, Sandy Bay were only able to field 16 players at the start of the game, which included Wing, Jonas & Chun Hei who were only just recovering from injuries. Valley brought a team of 25 players.
Playing uncontested scrums from the start, we were only allowed to field 14 players against Valley’s full compliment of 15. The boys did well holding off Valley for the first 20 minutes before they scored their first try.
The second half was even tougher with the team reduced to only 13 players and no subs available. But they managed to keep Valley mainly in their half, with a tough try scored by Brendan.
Next Sunday will see us able to field a fuller squad, and show the Stingrays what Sandy Bay is really able to achieve.
Special mention to Wing who managed to play 20 minutes before his ankle finally gave way, and to Jojo who cut short his other commitments to join the squad at kick-off.
